Japanese Play and Stay Group

This group meets Thursday mornings 10am - 11.30 during term time, at Headingley Children's Centre.

Children and parents from all backgrounds can learn about Japanese language and culture through arts, crafts, food, martial arts, songs, reading and writing in English and Japanese.

Volunteers are needed for this lively and fun group with experience and an interest in either Japanese culture, working with families or play work. You can expect to get involved in organising summer and winter festivals, preparing and serving food and taking an active part in the arts and craft activities which the group runs.

We like it because we are learning about a different culture, and the kids enjoy it too, it’s good for them to learn at such a young age about different cultures’.

Following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan the group has been fundraising to support Red Cross efforts in the country. Working in partnership with the Leeds Japanese school, they have raised over £4000.
