Japanese Play and Stay Group runs on Thursday Mornings from 10.00 am until 11.30 am at Headingley Children's Centre.
Burley Lodge Opportunities supports volunteers in leading this group; it's for children aged five and under and their parents. Children and parents can learn about Japanese language and culture through arts, crafts, food, martial arts, songs, reading and writing in English and Japanese. Families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds come to the group and it has a fantastic atmosphere.
The group regularly marks Japanese and Chinese festivals with traditional and spectacular celebrations such as the Summer and New Year festival.
The Play Group is supported by the Japanese Embassy's celebrations of 150 years of educational exchange and friendship between the UK and Japan in 2010.

We need volunteers for this lively and fun group! No experience of Japanese culture needed, just an interest in family work, art, language or play work. Get involved in helping the delivery of the group and learn Japanese with the children!
