Winter Fair
Every year in December the Burley Lodge Centre and CALM (Community Action Leeds Met) work together to organise and run a Winter celebration involving volunteers from both organisations and the local community.
Fundraising and donation collecting is a year-round prject, and in October each year volunteers form a planning group and begin the process of working on the Winter Fair. In 2009 the event included a santa's grotto, holistic therapies, cake stalls, a community quilt, knitting circle,a freecycle stall, and featured activities delivered by volunteers from local groups and businesses including Unity Garden, The Ladybird Project, Leeds University Circus Skills and Domino's Pizza.
Over £350 was raised for Kids United and over 40 volunteers were involved including 20 dedicated planning group members.
We hope that 2010 will be better still!
