The ABLE Project
The ABLE project aims to support the development of social enterprises that are already in business, existing voluntary and community sector organisations who wish to start selling services and products or new social enterprises. We do this by offering the following:
Access to computers, the internet, print and photocopying facilities. We are running free computer sessions for local people, businesses and organisations on a Monday and Tuesday mornings, 9.30 -11.30am.
The drop in facility is run in an informal and friendly way and offers free use of computers with internet access and Microsoft Office packages. A qualified IT tutor is also on hand to help out if needed.
Arrangements can be made for existing or start up social enterprises to use these resources on other days.
Free tailored business advice. Our Small Business Advisor will discuss what your business needs are and will provide one to one help and support. This includes help with policy development, business planning, marketing, finance, personnel, research, legal and other business development topics.
Training. Our qualified Advisor can deliver one to one training or group training in a range of business development topics.
Signposting. We can put you in touch with a range of providers, funders and other social enterprises across Leeds who can give specialist help and information.
Resource centre and links to resources. We have a range of online and paper based good practice guides, “how to” information packs and other resources to support business development.
Free membership of a network of social enterprise businesses and voluntary sector organisations. Our network has been set up to provide opportunities to network with other people working in the sector and to lunch and learn.
Managed Workspace
We have the perfect solution for community and voluntary groups or individuals setting up social enterprises or small businesses looking for a base, without the problems of buying equipment, juggling overhead bills and committing to a long term lease.
Our newly renovated centre, which is about 2 miles from Leeds city centre, easy to get to and has ample on street parking around it, has seven managed desk spaces in a light airy room on the top floor ready for occupation.
For an annual rent of £3,000, (£58p.w.), we can provide the following:

Workspaces equipped with desk, chair, computer with Microsoft Office packages and broadband internet access, phone, own phone line and filing cabinet.
